Why did Kalu Rinpoche speak on social media about the misuse of donated funds?

My dear brothers and sisters, please think carefully. Kalu Rinpoche brought a sacred Buddha relic from France to raise donations and build a community centre here in Perth. During this process, Rinpoche obtained permission from both the French and Australian governments.

Unfortunately, Tashi and his wife are refusing to hand over the Druk Community Centre of WA and the donated funds to Rinpoche. The Bhutanese Government and the Bhutanese people knew about Kalu Rinpoche’s plan to establish the Druk Community Centre of WA. The French Government also understood that Rinpoche was undertaking this project to support the Bhutanese community.

However, Tashi and his wife have claimed that Rinpoche is not the founder. This is a serious matter because the Australian, Bhutanese and French governments may believe that Kalu Rinpoche raised donations by providing false information and then misused those funds.

Rinpoche spoke publicly on social media because Tashi and his wife were unwilling to hand over the Druk Community Centre of WA to a board selected by the public—not to Rinpoche personally or to his family. In this situation, the Australian and French governments may believe that the Bhutanese people deceived them in order to raise donations. This matter could damage Bhutan’s good name and reputation.
